SAFE celebrated our supporters and donors with an evening of jazz in New York City.

SAFE was a proud recipient of a performance by Jazz for Peace in a Benefit Concert at the world famous Jazz Club Birdland in Manhattan.

Rick DellaRatta and his trio performed to a rapt audience a mix of original compositions, Brazilian classics, and favorites like “Autumn Leaves”. There was even a refreshing rendition of “If I only had a brain” from The Wizard of Oz.

The evening ended with dinner at Zuni Restaurant, where a special meal was prepared just for us. Over salmon, chicken and pasta, we had a chance to discuss the issues that brought us altogether in the first place—preservation of cultural heritage.

We thank Jazz for Peace and our sponsors:

About Jazz for Peace

On September 25, 2002 The Joshua Foundation and the U.S. Mission to the U.N. co-sponsored the first “Jazz for Peace Concert” featuring world renowned Jazz pianist and vocalist Rick DellaRatta at the United Nations in New York City. This concert has led to a benefit concert series that has since helped more than 250 non-profit organizations.

A wonderful evening for a truly worthy cause. C.G., New York City
