A party to celebrate SAFE’s Say YES to Italy campaign and in honor of all those who worked hard on the it.
On the beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon, SAFE held a party in celebration of its Say YES to Italy campaign. After working for months to prepare for the CPAC (Cultural Property Advisory Committee) hearing, traveling to Washington D.C., and presenting to the committee, persuading them to renew America’s bilateral agreement with Italy, it was time to relax!
The party was held at the home of Lucille Roussin, a longtime SAFE advisor and renowned expert in the field of cultural property law, at her penthouse home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. From the wraparound terrace, thirteen stories above the ground, SAFE supporters enjoyed the warm weather, the gorgeous views of the Hudson River, and, of course, refreshments. Guests feasted on an array of dishes, including Italian cheeses and crackers, sliced tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and olive oil, and delicious pasta salad (prepared by SAFE President Cindy Ho) and sipped wine and San Pellegrino. Guests who had attended the CPAC hearing shared their stories to a rapt audience, and other guests, many of whom were archaeologists, traded anecdotes from their experiences and discussed current issues in protecting cultural heritage.
SAFE intern Sarah Pickman (who later became a SAFE Board Governor and Secretary) happily received an honorary SAFE membership and a SAFE T-shirt from Cindy in front of all of the party’s attendees.
As the evening drew to a close, party guests were treated to a stunning sunset over the Hudson River, a perfect end to an afternoon of good food, friends, laughter and stories.
